Scientific Rationale

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most aggressive malignancies, characterized by late diagnosis and poor overall survival. The absence of effective population-wide screening strategies and the typically asymptomatic early stages contribute significantly to delayed detection and limited therapeutic options. Recent advances in imaging modalities, endoscopic techniques, and molecular risk stratification have renewed interest in targeted screening approaches for high-risk individuals. Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and advanced cross-sectional imaging play a central role in early detection strategies, particularly in patients with genetic predisposition, familial pancreatic cancer syndromes, or premalignant pancreatic lesions. Beyond early detection, the diagnostic pathway for pancreatic cancer requires a structured and multidisciplinary approach, integrating imaging, tissue acquisition, staging, and therapeutic planning. Accurate assessment of tumor resectability and timely referral to appropriate oncologic or surgical management are essential to improve patient outcomes. Continuous scientific evaluation is necessary to determine whether current evidence supports broader implementation of screening programs and to define standardized diagnostic and therapeutic algorithms.

EDCATIONAL RATIONALE

Given the evolving landscape of pancreatic cancer management, healthcare professionals must remain updated on emerging screening strategies, validated risk stratification models, and advances in diagnostic accuracy. Variability in patient selection, imaging interpretation, and procedural approaches may influence clinical outcomes. A structured educational initiative is therefore essential to:

• Clarify current evidence regarding pancreatic cancer screening;
• Define appropriate selection criteria for high-risk populations;
• Standardize diagnostic and staging pathways;
• Promote multidisciplinary coordination in therapeutic decision-making.

This international webinar provides an evidence-based overview of pancreatic cancer screening readiness, diagnostic workflows, and therapeutic integration, fostering harmonized practices among European and international specialists.
